Bay Area Film Mixer Success!

Hello Hello!

There are going to be a few update blasts done today as things have just been soooo busy!

Last Tuesday 2/17/2015 we had the Bay Area Film Mixer and it was wonderful So many actors, directors, cinematographers, writers, and artists were in attendance. Our sponsors did a great job at bringing their A game! Big shout outs to PianoFight, Pictoclik Film Festival, AVSuperfly, SF Acting Academy, Coffee and Catchup, KQED, Fandom Workshop, and Brian Molyneaux our event photographer!

I have already heard of some of the success of the night. A few people got jobs out of the mixing they were doing and that is exactly why we are doing the mixer!

Shades of Grey at the San Diego Improv Festival!

20150219_163750This past weekend I got to go to the San Diego Improv Festival with Jill Eickmann to perform as Shades of Grey. The community down there is so wonderful. Finest City Improv has a great little theater that is attached to a hotel with two restaurants and 2 bars!

While there Jill and I consumed improv shows and even took a workshop from another duo called From Justin to Kelly. Such positive teachers, most of the class was rolling most of the time. Due to the workshops, shows, the after party, and then the after after party, I got 20 minutes of sleep before Jill said, we have to go catch our plane. 20150219_161745

I love improv festivals! There are no two ways about it. It is such a wonderful feeling to be surrounded by other humans that love the same thing as you do. Improvisers are some of the nicest people around. I think it may have something to do with all the improv training we get. =)

Shades of Grey at the San Diego Improv Festival!

Hello!

Things have been super busy per usual. The month started with a 4 day film shoot for our feature, Lost in the Sun. It is coming along quite well. I have learned one thing during this producing action. NEVER choose weather dependent subject material. Yes, we require the sun for our film and it has officially rained 90% of the shoot days. But that is nothing post and creative problem solving can’t fix, right?

The next piece of BIG news I would like to share with you is that my improv duo, Shades of Grey, has been officially selected to perform in the Chicago Improv Festival this April. I can not tell you how excited we are to play in the city where improv rules the land. If you haven’t already, please like our facebook page! Shades of Grey will also be playing at the San Diego Improv Festival on February 19th at 7:00 PM! If you know someone or will be in the area yourself come check us out!

Lastly, the Bay Area Film Mixer is on the track to be a very successful event. It is a free event to bring the film industry a bit closer here in the Bay. As soon as tickets were releacsed we had 100 attendees within the first 24 hours. Some of our sponsors include, Pictoclik Film Festival, SF Acting Academy, AV Superfly, &PianoFight. Our contributors include, Fandom Workshop, Coffee and Catchup, and last but certainly not least, KQED! As you can see a lot of partnerships have been made and it is only going to get better!

There are the updates as of now. Stay tuned for a film mixer wrap up and more news as it unfolds. Below you can check out my upcoming classes. As always, thank you so very much for taking the time to look through my little newsletters. What have you been up to? Reach out to me, I want to know!

Keep creating,

-Marcus

Bay Area Film Mixer gets announced!

This Wednesday, after Jonathan Howarth sent us the artwork, Dave Moutray and I blasted out the ads for the next film mixer. The results were spectacular! Twenty Four hours later when I looked at the ticket count I was bayareamixer_postcard 2015-front (1)astonished. We broke 100 tickets! Clearly this is something that the Bay is hungry for and we could not be more thrilled to be a part of it.

Bay Area Film Mixer gets announced!

Take a moment to visit my new website! Totally rebuilt from the ground up!

Hello Friends,

I hope that this email finds you in good spirits! I am writing to you today to let you know that I have a new website! This is a big deal for me because I taught myself Adobe Muse and did a redesign of my site from the ground up. It has needed to be done for a few years and I accomplished the task in about 3 weeks.

It now not only includes my actors website, but it is also a comprehensive resource for all my classes under the umbrella of “Improv w/Marcus” along with all my other projects. I  even figured out how to do some pretty nifty automation and have embedded a WordPress blog. Now, if you are interested in what I’m up to, you can simply check my site. I will post shows classes and other adventures there and my goal is to actually keep it up to date. My Galaxy Note 4 should help me do that. =)

Check out my website by going to: http://www.marcussams.com

What better way to usher in the second month in 2015! I ask that you please take some time on the  site and check it out. There is a lot going on along with some new videos like the two commercials I recently did. The commercials are for Avaya and I got to work with Rachel Hamilton of Rachel Hamilton Improv, Anthony Veneziale of Freestyle Love Supreme, and the awesome Gillian Vigman!

You can see the spots by clicking on this link.

As always, thank you for your time and support! Be on the look out for a special newsletter next week as I will be announcing some very exciting newsbites. One of which will be the official information regarding the reboot of the Bay Area Film Mixer!

Till next time, keep creating!

-Marcus

We had the first Improv Sunday School this past Sunday. It was all about character and it was wonderful. What was really great is I had 5 new students that I had never met, which indicates some growth.  If you are interested in checking out Improv Sunday School, go to my website! It’s all there.

Blair N’ Sams is one of my newest improv projects. We will be headlining Leela’s Indie night on Feb 7th!  Come out for a good time as 4 teams take the stage. More information can be found here: Leela’s Indie Night Facebook Event.
